index.everything presents the proposals developed in the course of Project II of the Master in Communication Design and New Media (Faculty of Fine Arts, ULisboa) that deal with the indexing systems and processes which are central to contemporary communication. Approaching themes such as data policy and protection, surveillance, digital dependency or digital footprint and exploring concepts such as dark patterns, appification, critical gameplay or the subversion of production patterns in design, the projects critically explore these conditions and phenomena, reflecting on their current impact.  

 

They offer a reflection on how digital tools shape access to information or define an economy of attention, while promoting control mechanisms in a context of proliferation of social networks and applications structured around data and metrics of our daily lives. Following these themes the exhibition includes proposals resulting from a partnership with the Institute of Astrophysics and Space Sciences within the scope of the Literacy in Astronomy project, addressing the role of artistic production and design processes in the communication of scientific knowledge.
