(Dis)closed Data
About
The project approach is based on the dissemination of documents and information related to the mechanization of the surveillance program, PRISM. In addition to the problem based on the violation of the privacy of the users, this system also has access to the data of the European Union, being Portugal one of these countries. Through this, the project seeks, based on the disclosure of documents, to establish relationships between the actions of the surveillance system, PRISM, and the information that online platforms such as facebook and google divulge.
What is PRISM?
PRISM is one of the programs of the NSA's global surveillance system that was kept secret from 2007 until its disclosure in the press on June 7, 2013. Its existence came to the public through publications made by the British newspaper The Guardian, based on documents provided by Edward Snowden. The program allows NSA employees to collect various types of user data including search history, email content, file transfers, videos, photos, voice and video calls, social networking details, log-ins and any other data provided by online platforms.
