Politics — data

I-agree exposes Facebook's data policy and proposes a reflection on how we have become powerless users before immense and non-negotiable agreements. There are currently hundreds of organizations with access to large amounts of Facebook users’ data. This information can be misleadingly collected and manipulated, as was recently proven by the Cambridge Analytica’s case, a company that misused user data to influence the American presidential campaign that led to Donald Trump victory.

The project demonstrates that while politics and democracy require transparency, the way of some of these platforms present their data policies undermine this concept, when providing the user with a vast and uninteresting amount of terms that usually prevents a conscious agreement. As a critical comment, I-agree proposes a simple challenge — editing the contents of Facebook's data policy, taking into account basic principles of (textual and visual) language simplification and readability.
